Suhas Roy(1936 - 2016)
Suhas Roy studied at the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Calcutta, under Prof. S.W. Hayter at the Atelier 17 Ecole Superior Des Beaux Arts, Paris. As an artist his inclination towards the female face and the form revolves around a romantic setting making way to a dream like sequence, having roots in everyday life that people see and observe. His textures are vast and complex, thus creating a dark aura. There’s a lot of melancholy dipped in elegance and presented in a subtle manner. Roy usually had his works done in charcoal, crayons and brushes depicting harping on sensitivity and purity of his subjects.
