Ram Gopal Vijayvargiya
Ram Gopal Vijayvargiya(1905 – 2003)
Finding his source of inspiration in Bengal School of Painting, and considering Shailendra Nath De as his “Guru”, Ramgopal Vijaivargiya refrained himself from being inclined to any other style or form of art. Hence, balance and temperament are key attributes of Vijayvargiya’s work. In the words of RC Tandon, Vijayvargiya’s artworks carried a “strong individualistic sense” and since he studied Hindu mythology for a long time, he was at full liberty to explore the gamut of spiritualism and erotic in equal measure. Smooth lines, supple creations were a signature of Vijayvargiya’s works and always remained a dominant characteristic of his paintings.
